Cook medical: Health Clinic Wait-time app

GOAL: Improve the check-in experience at the clinic and cut down on wait-times.

COMPANY: Cook Family Health Center

PROJECT TEAM: Product Manager, UX/UI Designer, Developers, Clinic Stakeholders

MY RESPONSIBILITIES: Stakeholder interviews, journey maps, usability testing, ideation, wireframing, prototyping, visual assets

FINAL DELIVERABLE: Dedicated iPad check in stations for patients with iOS app, backend web-based application for reception and nurse’s station.

PLANNING AND ANALYSIS: The Cook Family Health Center approached us with the issue of needing to modernize their check-in approach for patients. They were in need of a way to check patients in, notify the nurse of patient arrival and deliver appropriate charts to the attending nurse.

The Product Manager and I worked on a plan for interviewing users at the clinic as well as clinic management and workers.

RESEARCH TAKEAWAYS: We determined that the major pain points for the current check in system were;

1. Handwritten check-in list had legibility issues for reception

2. Physical check-in clipboard did not obfuscate previous patients’ information

3. Nurses had to walk to reception to check patient queue

JOURNEY MAP DELIVERABLE: I put together a journey map comparing the current workflow versus the proposed one.
